EQUESTRIAN ACADEMY
Compassionate Coaching
Our lessons are tailored to fit each rider’s level, preferences, and goals. Learning is an intricate and individualized process, so we approach coaching with this in mind. Every action we make, skill we learn, or rule we must follow is thoroughly explained in order to fully understand its importance. Most of all, we believe in learning by doing, so students are able to put all their acquired knowledge into practice in order to fully grasp the concepts.
Focus on Foundations
We utilize Classical Dressage training in our program. This method creates a well-rounded equestrian who can excel in the discipline of their choosing. Correct, effective riding is the same across all disciplines, so we strive to provide every student with the foundation necessary to succeed on their own journey.
Comprehensive Curriculum
Our comprehensive curriculum covers not only riding skills, but horsemanship skills, knowledge, and care. A step by step curriculum is provided to every student so that they can prepare with their instructors and set goals for the future. There are no trick questions here at Madella Stables: it's important to us that we are developing confident and knowledgeable equestrians.
Students are presented with awards for the levels they have passed at our yearly awards and celebration gatherings. We encourage all of our students to attend these so that they can cheer for their peers!
Age
Anyone 5 years of age or older can apply for our Equestrian Academy. We do accept younger students on a case by case basis, but they must complete our Pony Pals Course prior to applying.
Program Requirements
Skill
We accept students of any skill level. Whether you are wanting to experience riding for the first time or return to your passion later in life, we would love to be a part of your equestrian journey.
Disciplines
Many of our students start in a Western saddle for balance and support, but move to an English saddle when ready. We specialize in English disciplines and teach primarily dressage and jumping lessons.
Commitment
We encourage our students to be responsible, committed equestrians who are motivated to improve their knowledge of and connection to horses.
Patience
Riding is a humbling sport with consistent setbacks and triumphs. We strive to provide a steady support system for these challenges and ask our students to remain patient and open minded as there is always more to learn.
Empathy
We expect our riders to treat everyone, horse or human, with utmost respect. Riding is a team sport that requires a strong bond with a four-legged partner, and that partnership is earned through empathy.
"I believe that horses bring out the best in us. They judge us not by how we look, what we're wearing, or how powerful or rich we are. They judge us in terms of sensitivity, consistency, and patience. They demand standards of behavior and levels of kindness that we, as humans, then strive to maintain."
